The City of Reed City (Pop. 2425). Current Chief has retired after 16 years. Department consists of Sgt., 2 Officers, School Liaison Officer, part time officer clerk and seasonal snowmobile/trail officer with a July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 budget of $483,000. This is an “employment at will” position with salary and benefits set by City Council each year. The Chief reports to the City Manager.

This is a working chief whose duties include administrative, supervisory, budgeting, planning, training, coordinating, directing and community relations. Prefer 5 years law enforcement experience with command / supervisory experience. Must be computer literate; possess strong communications skills, and an ability to work with other jurisdictions. MCOLES certified. Degree a plus. Must pass physical exam, drug test, and criminal and personal background checks.
